Assess your current fitness level with an exercise test on a treadmill or on the track. Both include lactate measurement. Regardless of your level of experience, how fast or slow you run, a lactate test offers significant added value for everyone.
Your lactate values, heart rate, and RPE (rate of perceived exertion) are displayed in a report and tell your coach everything about your current fitness level. They also give an indication of the feasibility of your athletic goals. Keeping in mind the wise words of marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge: "No human is limited."
You can choose between:
No. After the exercise test, you will go home with the results compiled in a report. These provide more clarity about the zones in which you can train and where, for example, your aerobic threshold lies. You can submit these to your coach or try to apply them yourself to the free training schedules from Keep on Running.
The result of the test is the same. During the test days, several people are tested at the same time in an outdoor test environment. During the individual lab test, the test is performed on a treadmill and the coach focuses solely on you during this test.
Wear sports clothing and good running shoes. Bring a heart rate monitor and a watch so you can keep track of your pace and heart rate. You will also need these in your subsequent training sessions to get the most out of your efforts based on the results of this exercise test.
Allow 1 hour for the entire test.
You run several times at different speeds. After each phase, lactate is measured by means of a finger prick (blood). Your heart rate and RPE (perceived exertion) are also recorded consistently.
