Who can benefit from nutritional advice?

Nutritional advice is useful for anyone who wants to work toward optimal health through a balanced diet.

Nutritional advice can make a difference if you:

  • want to become or stay healthy , or you want to reach a certain target weight.
  • you want to improve your athletic performance or achieve your ideal athletic weight.
  • promoterecovery after strenuous workouts .
  • want to determine what you should eat before, during, and after your workouts, or want to optimize your nutrition on competition day

It used to be thought that training alone was important for achieving good performance, but nothing could be further from the truth! An appropriate diet can lead to better performance, optimal recovery, higher resilience, and a greater training effect. This applies to both recreational and avid athletes.

What can you expect?

You sign up for a series of three sessions. This allows us to build a solid foundation that you can continue to build on in the long term.

SESSION 1: 60-minute intake interview.

During this introductory meeting, we will go over:

  • your expectations
  • general and medical information.
  • your training schedule.
  • Your current diet

Based on this information, you will receive very specific tips that you can put into practice.

SESSIONS 2 & 3: 30 min. each

During the two follow-up sessions, we will discuss the past period in detail. If any difficulties arise, we will work together to find a solution. There is also the option to explore a specific topic in greater depth. This could be sports-specific nutrition (before, during, and after training), improving recovery, drawing up a competition plan, etc.

How do we proceed?
  • Book your first appointment directly in my calendar below.
  • Download the Food Diary in PDF format or as a Word document and fill it in beforehand.
Write down what you eat and drink during a few training days.
Long vs. short training sessions. Weekday vs. weekend day.
  • Please bring your food diary to the intake interview.
  • We communicate online or meet at Runners' Lab Antwerp (Deurne).

Method
DEXA scan

A DEXA scanner provides insight into your body composition using very low-intensity X-rays.

Specifically, the scanner gives you insight into the difference between your fat-free mass (such as muscle mass) and your fat mass. This is something that athletes such as Mathieu van der Poel, Isaac Kimeli, Koen Naert, Nafi Thiam, and Ceylin Alvarado have already eagerly taken advantage of, as they have already visited Runners' Lab for a DEXA scan.

You can book a DEXA scan separately via Runners' Lab. This is only possible in Zwijndrecht.

Sports nutrition

With the right sports nutrition, you can get the most out of your training sessions and competitions. Especially when you run for longer than an hour, the extra energy comes in handy. And it doesn't stop after your run: a recovery drink is the best way to help your body recover optimally.

Frequently Asked Questions

Nutritional advice costs EUR 160. This includes three consultation sessions. During the initial one-hour consultation, we will discuss what you already know about nutrition, your current eating habits, and what you want to achieve.
We will then schedule two follow-up sessions of 30 minutes each.

We are convinced of the added value of this advice. If you decide not to schedule a follow-up meeting, no refund will be possible. You are signing up for the full package.

Yes. Nutritional advice is about nutritional values, how you deal with them, and what they mean for your body. Nutritional advice is given based on what you want to achieve.

Yes. How much impact an adjusted diet can have depends on your current habits. But the right nutrition at the right time has a major impact on your well-being and performance. Nutrition is our fuel.

No. You can get started with the insights and advice from the dietitian without knowing your exact body composition. A DEXA scan is a good idea for people who want to know their body composition (fat-to-muscle mass ratio) very precisely.

You can book a DEXA scan for body composition on the Runners' Lab website via this link. (only in Zwijndrecht)
Are you unsure whether such a scan would be useful for you? Feel free to discuss this during your intake interview.

We provide 3 sessions.

The first meeting lasts 60 minutes and starts with a general introduction.

We will review your expectations, along with your general and medical information. We will then take a closer look at your training schedule so that we can link it to the nutritional advice. Your current diet will be mapped out using the pre-filled food diary. Based on the above information, you will immediately receive specific tips that you can put into practice.

If you have specific questions, these will of course also be discussed. These may concern preparation for a competition, the use of supplements, carb loading, training the gut, etc. Depending on your interests, we will determine the content of the follow-up sessions.

The next two sessions are 30 minutes long and will be scheduled in consultation at the end of the first meeting.

Julie is a registered dietitian with the RIZIV. This means that you are entitled to a partial reimbursement from your health insurance fund. This reimbursement varies from one health insurance fund to another.
